Clarity Ensued

Please email comments to letters@livingchurch.org.

In early 2008 Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori visited the Diocese of South Carolina. One segment of her visit was “Charity and Clarity,” a gathering with diocesan clergy at St. Andrew’s Church, Mt. Pleasant.

At the time St. Andrew’s was still a congregation of the Diocese of South Carolina. St. Andrew’s has since left the diocese. Bishop Mark J. Lawrence’s not taking the congregation to court in a property battle is one point mentioned in the appendix of allegations filed against him.

Tensions between Bishop Jefferts Schori and the gathered clergy begin to show in the third of 12 videos, which is embedded here. Here too are links to all the videos from that day of conversation.
