A YouTube series by the Rev. Joseph Mulligan, SJ, highlights the ministry of the Rev. William Wipfler, a graduate of General Theological Seminary.

Wipfler has served congregations in the United States and as a missioner in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. He is the former director of the National Council of Churches’ Caribbean and Latin American Department (1968-77) and the council’s Human Rights Office (1977-88).

During his 25-year career with the council, Wipfler helped with a national effort to denounce repression and torture in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, and Central America. He has been an outspoken critic of the U.S. government’s Latin American policies for the past 30 years.
