The Diocese of Albany seeks a new bishop who will help bring together churches of all factions. Former Bishop of Albany William H. Love announced March 30 that he has been released at his request from ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church, and is seeking to be received in the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).

Retired Bishop of Albany Daniel Herzog had been restored to ordained ministry a decade ago, after leaving the church for the first time.

Resolution B012 was not adopted as part of the Book of Common Prayer, according to two of the sponsors of the resolution at the 2018 General Convention.

William H. Love's resignation as Bishop of Albany brings a close to a disciplinary process that could have stretched on for months.

Albany's Standing Committee strongly affirmed their condemned bishop, saying they join him in "strong disagreement with the finding that B012 was passed as an authorized revision to the BCP. "

Another public hearing will be held to determine what discipline will be imposed on the Rt. Rev. William Love, Bishop of Albany.

The Bishop of Albany is the only domestic bishop who continues to forbid same-sex marriages to be conducted within his diocese, despite the will of the General Convention. He faces disciplinary charges under Title IV.
