Church leaders in Nigeria, Uganda, and Rwanda say the Communion is evading "the crucial issue of human sexuality" to focus on climate and social justice.
The Rt. Rev. Jonathan Ruhumuliza, accused of supporting Rwanda's genocidal regime, was licensed to serve as an interim minister in the Church of England's Diocese of Manchester after an immigration tribunal granted him asylum status.
Archbishop Laurent Mbanda said the church he leads will be known as "The Anglican Church of Rwanda," and that removing the word "province" from the former name affirms that Anglican identity is found in "Biblical doctrine."
