General Theological Seminary’s annual Paddock Lectures, “45 Years of ‘Being Christian’: Rowan Williams at General Seminary,” are scheduled for Feb. 11.

Williams delivered his first lecture in the United States when he visited General Seminary in 1974 as a 23-year-old graduate student. Through the next 45 years, Williams has visited the seminary several times as priest, bishop, professor, and the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury.

The presentation will feature his book Being Christian: Baptism, Bible, Eucharist, Prayer and his reflections on a life of ministry, academia, and ecclesiastical leadership.

The Paddock Lectures are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. A luncheon is planned for the refectory at 12:30 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m., the seminary will host its convocation in the historic Chapel of the Good Shepherd, and will award honorary degrees to Williams and Presiding Bishop Michael B. Curry. Bishop Curry will preach the homily. A reception will follow.

Event registration is $75, which includes admission to all of the day’s activities, including lunch and the evening reception. The rate for alumni of General Seminary is $50.
