Primates from the Americas and the Caribbean region of the Anglican Communion are meeting on Nov. 27-29 in Toronto, to discuss the Lambeth 2020 Conference.
This is the third of several regional meetings to be held across the Anglican Communion.
The primates of the region are:
- The Most Rev. Michael Curry, Episcopal Church;
- The Most Rev. Naudal Alves Gomes, Brazil;
- The Most Rev. Frederick Hiltz, Canada;
- The Most Rev. Francisco Moreno, Mexico;
- The Most Rev. Julio Murray Thompson, primate-elect of Central America;
- The Most Rev. Gregory James Venables, South America;
- The Most Rev. Héctor (Tito) Zavala Muñoz, Chile;
- The primate of the West Indies, a pending choice.
The primates will be joined by the Most Rev. Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, and the Most Rev. Josiah Idowu-Fearon, secretary general of the Anglican Communion.
“I am very happy to welcome all of the primates of our region of the Communion,” Hiltz said. “This is a meeting that is conversational. We are not making decisions or pronouncements. We are being invited by the Archbishop of Canterbury to come together in our respective regions to have conversations. These conversations will then feed into the Lambeth design group for Lambeth 2020.”
