The Rev. David Column at General Convention in 2015 |
The Rt. Rev. William H. Love, Bishop of Albany, writes via email about the Rev. David Collum’s future:
The Rev. David Collum, former Dean of the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany, and most recently Interim Priest at St. Stephen’s, Delmar, has just been selected as the next Chief Executive Officer of the Pocket Testament League. Founded in 1893 as an evangelism and missionary organization, The Pocket Testament League is committed to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world. Since its inception, over 110 million Gospel copies have been distributed worldwide.
I want to congratulate Fr. Collum and his wife, Beth, and wish them the very best as they begin this new ministry together. Given David+ and Beth’s love for God’s Word, and their burning desire to reach out and share the Gospel with those who have not yet heard it, I believe this ministry will be a perfect fit for them and that the Lord will use them mightily in His service for the building up of His Kingdom. To find out more about The Pocket Testament League and the ministry the Collum’s will be involved in, please visit www.ptl.org.
On a sadder note, while having served the Diocese of Albany and The Episcopal Church faithfully for many years, after much thought and prayer, Fr. Collum believes that it would be best for him to step down as a priest of this Church. He has asked to be released from his obligations and responsibilities as a priest in The Episcopal Church, in order to exercise his priestly ministry in The Anglican Church of North America.
Fr. Collum and Beth plan to remain in the Albany area at least for the near future. While they continue to be friends of the Diocese of Albany and are most welcome to worship our Lord in any Church of the Diocese, unfortunately given the current state of affairs within the Church and Fr. Collum’s change in ecclesiastical jurisdiction, he is no longer able to serve as a supply priest in the Diocese. With that said, he is most welcome to be invited by any parish to be a guest preacher or to come and talk about the ministry of The Pocket Testament League.
Again, I want to thank Fr. Collum and Beth for their past ministry in the Diocese of Albany and wish them the very best as they begin this new chapter in their lives. May the Lord bless them and use them mightily as they go forth in His Name.
