Preventable Deaths

The Rev. Bernadine Craft, a Democratic member of Wyoming’s Senate and a priest of the Diocese of Wyoming, appears in a new televised discussion of suicide prevention.

Suicide Leader: Wyoming’s Unwanted Tag, an episode of the weekly Wyoming Chronicle, airs at 8:30 p.m. (MST) on the state’s PBS network but is also available for on-demand streaming.

The program begins with the stories of two Lance Nieberger, who lost his son to suicide, and Rhianna Brand, who describes being a victim of sexual abuse and attempting suicide more than once, beginning at age 9. A discussion follows among Sen. Craft, Terresa Humphries-Wadsworth, director of Statewide Suicide Prevention, and Carolyn M. Pepper, a professor of clinical psychology at the University of Wyoming.

Craig Blumenshine, host of Wyoming Chronicle, moderates the discussion.

Sen. Craft was ordained to the diaconate in 2013 and to the priesthood in 2014. She serves at Church of the Holy Communion in Rock Springs.
