PBS Profiles Seeds of Hope

Seeds of Hope, the food justice ministry of the Diocese of Los Angeles, will be featured on KCET’s L.A. Foodways, a regional historical program. The episode will feature Tim Alderson, executive director of Seeds of Hope and a fifth-generation Los Angeles-area farmer.

The new multi-platform series by filmmaker, actor, and producer Raphael Sbarge (LongmoreMurder in the FirstOnce Upon a Time) explores the city’s agricultural past and offers answers to challenges it now faces.

Seeds of Hope will co-host a sneak preview Jan. 30 at Laemmle Fine Arts Theater in Beverly Hills.The screening will begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by a panel discussion including Alderson and Sbarge; A.G. Kawamura, chairman of Solutions for Urban Agriculture and former California secretary of Food and Agriculture; Clare Fox, executive director of the Los Angeles Food Policy Council; Rick Nahmias, executive director of Food Forward; Rachel Surls of the University of California’s Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources; and Tim Watkins, CEO of Watts Labor Community Action Committee.
