Adopt a Duck

Please email comments to letters@livingchurch.org.

Bishop William Franklin of the Diocese of Western New York developed a collection of a few thousand decorative ducks during his tenure, and he needs to lighten the load as he prepares to retire and serve as an assisting bishop in the Diocese of Long Island.

His diocese reports in its newsletter:

We have well over 2,000 ducks at the Diocesan Offices and while the Bishop loves them, he cannot have them in a New York City apartment, so we are having a duck sale.

Last year, the trustees established the Franklin Fund, in honor of Bishop Bill. Donations to this fund will be used to aid programs that reflect Bishop Franklin’s Web of Grace vision.

To this end we are offering the ducks from his collection for purchase. A minimum donation of $1 is asked for the small ducks, a minimum donation of $5 for the midsize ducks, and a minimum donation of $10 for the very large ducks. Of course donations of greater amounts are graciously accepted.

Checks may be made out to the Diocese of Western New with “Franklin Fund Ducks” in the memo line. Send the checks to the Diocesan Offices, attention Canon Dempesy-Sims.

The diocese’s postal address is 1064 Brighton Rd., Tonawanda, NY 141507.
