New: Feb. 21 TLC

The Feb. 21 edition of The Living Church is available online to registered subscribers. This edition features reports on the architecture of three ministries: the headquarters of the Episcopal Church in Connecticut, the Order of St. Helena’s convent in South Carolina, and Immanuel Chapel at Virginia Theological Seminary. G. Jeffrey MacDonald writes in the cover story:

From the striking contemporary white façade to the strategic leveraging of natural light, the new home for 13 sisters is a carefully planned reflection of who they are. It also expresses who they are striving to become.

“It was important that this would be a totally purpose-built institution. We spent many, many hours meeting together about what would our dream convent look like,” said Sr. Mary Lois. “The silence, solitude, and simplicity of the structure were important to us as monastics.”
