The Rev. Canon Moses Bushendich will become international director of CMS-Africa on Sept. 1. He succeeds the Rev. Dennis Tongoi, who is retiring, and will be based at CMS-Africa’s office in Nairobi, Kenya.
Canon Bushendich and his wife, Caroline, have five children. He has been an Anglican priest since 2002 and serves as coordinator for the household and community transformation directorate of the Church of Uganda.
Since ordination, he has held a variety of posts, including parish priest, chaplain to the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, and program officer with responsibility for food and nutritional security across the province. Before his ordination, Canon Bushendich taught agriculture in secondary school for 10 years.
“Dennis Tongoi has built a wonderful foundation for his successor to build on,” said Philip Mounstephen, executive leader of Church Mission Society. “With his strong background in community development and his desire to see every aspect of life transformed, I expect Canon Moses will take CMS-Africa on to even greater things. We look forward to building the closest possible partnership with him.”
CMS-Africa, which celebrates its tenth anniversary in October, has a vision to transform the lives of 50 million people across Africa by 2050.
