The Rt. Rev. Larry R. Benfield, Bishop of Arkansas, has joined in a cause championed by former Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori during General Convention: providing pensions for retired Episcopal clergy in Cuba.

Bishop Benfield has asked his people to provide $6,500 toward the cause.

On a related note, several Episcopalians in Arkansas will meet Sept. 15 to discuss how their diocese can be part of the renewed relationship with the Diocese of Cuba. The meeting is scheduled for St. Mark’s Church in Little Rock.
