The Rev. Jack Gabig is the new associate professor of practical theology and director of the doctor of ministry program at Trinity School for Ministry. Trinity’s board ratified the appointment after a unanimous vote of the faculty in July.

Gabig, who has completed his tenure as associate professor of practical theology and director of advanced degree programs at Nashotah House Theological Seminary, will join Trinity’s faculty on Aug. 28.

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev. Dr. Jack Gabig as a full-time member of our residential faculty,” said the Very Rev. Henry L. Thompson III, dean and president of Trinity. “He brings many years of pastoral wisdom, creative energy, innovative thinking, passion for academic rigor, and an abundance of love centered in the love of Jesus Christ.”

Gabig received his MDiv from Trinity and then served for eight years as assistant rector of Church of the Ascension in Pittsburgh. He completed a PhD at King’s College London while serving as a chaplain at New College, Oxford.

Gabig has been involved in children’s, youth, and young-adult ministries in the United States and the United Kingdom for nearly 25 years and has taught in Anglican circles on five continents. He serves on the Anglican Church in North America’s catechesis task force.

His research focuses on ancient creedal faith lived in contemporary contexts, including popular culture and mission in America. He is the author of Youth, Religion, and Film (2007) and essays in Journal of Youth and Theology, Journal of Youth Ministry, Trinity Journal, and Youth Specialties’ online journal.

He and his wife, Patty, live in the Pittsburgh suburb of North Hills.
