New York police officers are investigating attempted arson at St. Paul’s Memorial Church, Staten Island, said a report on silive.com. First responders arrived around 2:20 p.m. after a crude firebomb was thrown at the church. The report said the NYPD’s hate crimes unit is investigating.

From silive.com:

Police say an unidentified individual intentionally chucked the incendiary device through the front window, resulting in a small fire inside the church.

NYPD officials on scene said the church was “fire-bombed” with a device representative of a Molotov cocktail.

Nobody was injured during the fire and the church sustained only minor damage, the spokeswoman said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is on-going, she added.

Part of the Diocese of New York, St. Paul’s is based in the Stapleton neighborhood of Staten Island.
