The Rt. Rev. Grant LeMarquand, former Anglican Bishop of the Horn of Africa within the Diocese of Egypt with North Africa and the Horn of Africa, will return to Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge in July.
He will fill in for Wesley Hill, associate professor of New Testament, who is on sabbatical. Bishop LeMarquand was professor of biblical studies and mission at Trinity from 1998 through the spring of 2012, before his consecration as a bishop later that year.
He was assigned to the Horn of Africa, taking up residence with his wife, Wendy — a physician — in Ethiopia. Their mission work there continued until they needed to leave Africa because of Wendy’s health struggles.
“It’s wonderful to be back in Ambridge. I’m looking forward to getting back into the classroom,” he said. Both he and Wendy plan to be active in the community and its many opportunities to help those in need.
“Grant is truly remarkable in his breadth of mission and ministry experience, his intellectual acumen and training, and his pastoral concern for the marginalized, the sick, and the poor,” said the Very Rev. Henry Thompson III, dean and president of Trinity.
“Grant is a wonderful companion to have back on our campus. His return to theological education will be a great gift to Trinity School for Ministry, and we are grateful for the opportunity which has brought him back to Ambridge as visiting professor.”
