Bishop of Oregon to Retire

Please email comments to letters@livingchurch.org.

The Rt. Rev. Michael Hanley writes:

This morning I announced, first to my staff and then to the Standing Committee, my intention to retire as Bishop Diocesan of Oregon, effective in January 2021. …

The diocese can expect that there will be an electing convention in June 2020, and that the new bishop will be ordained and consecrated in January 2021. The specific details of the search and transition will be the work of the Standing Committee. More information about this process and timeliness will be published soon.

Thank you, good people, for your help and support over these past nine years. Thank you for your prayers and, perhaps most of all, thank you for allowing me into your diocesan family. It has been an honor and privilege to serve the Church with you. I look forward to the rest of my time with you as your bishop.
