Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori announced to the Episcopal Church’s House of Bishops that the Archbishop of Canterbury will visit her and the Episcopal Church in April. “The Archbishop of Canterbury has contacted me and we are planning a private discussion next April,” she told the House of Bishops during its fall meeting in Nashville.

Archbishop Welby plans a personal visit with the Presiding Bishop in 2014 to provide an opportunity for informal conversation. The archbishop intends to visit all of the Anglican Communion’s primates during his first 18 months of ministry.

The visit is expected to correspond with “Reclaiming the Gospel of Peace: An Episcopal Gathering to Challenge the Epidemic of Violence,” scheduled for April 9-11 in Oklahoma City. Organizers have invited Archbishop Welby to offer greetings as the conference begins.
