Abp. to Preach in VTS Chapel

The Very Rev. Ian Markham, dean and president of Virginia Theological Seminary, writes on the seminary’s website:

The consecration of the new Immanuel Chapel will take place on Tuesday October 13, 2015, at 10 a.m. I am delighted to announce that the Archbishop of Canterbury, Archbishop Justin Welby, will be the preacher and the Presiding Bishop, the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, will be the celebrant. It will be a special occasion.

Already some anxiety has arisen around the extent to which the immediate Seminary community can be inside the Chapel. It is true that if every Faculty, staff, and student, plus spouses and children were inside the Chapel, then we would have no room for the congregation of Immanuel Church on the Hill or our alums or the architect or the representatives of the City (and so the list goes on).
