Chip Marble receives a Bishop’s Medal from Michael Curry in 2013.
The Rt. Rev. Anne Elliott Hodges-Copple, Bishop Pro Tempore of North Carolina, requests prayers for Bishop Chip Marble:
On Friday, May 27, the Rt. Rev. Chip Marble is undergoing surgery. It is a serious and necessary abdominal surgery to address a condition Bishop Marble and his doctors have been dealing with for some time in the hope of avoiding this course of action. His health has been poor for some months, and while are hopeful this surgery will lead to a vastly improved state of things, the risks of major surgery are real and the healing process will be long.
As we all know, Bishop Marble is always a source of compassion, steadfastness and encouragement to others. His trust, and ours, is in God. We ask you to keep Bishop Marble, his wife Diene, and their sons in your prayers. Knowing that people all over our diocese and the rest of the church are praying for them will be a great comfort in these days to come. Our prayers are being joined by our friends in the Jewish and Muslim communities who know and admire Bishop Marble so much.
We will update you on Bishop Marble’s condition and progress via the diocesan website and our regular Please Note editions.
For Strength and Confidence
Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve your sick servant Chip, and give your power of healing to those who minister to his needs, that he may be strengthened in his weakness and have confidence in your loving care; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
