Presiding Bishop Clears Surgery

Adapted from the Office of Public Affairs

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry is resting comfortably after surgery in a Virginia hospital on Tuesday.

The surgery went well, according to the presiding bishop, his family, and his medical team. Bishop Curry is alert and awake, and doctors continue to expect his full recovery.

Presiding Bishop Curry was taken to the hospital Sunday after he had visited Bruton Parish Church in Colonial Williamsburg.

Presiding Bishop Curry and his family are touched by people’s prayers and well wishes, but they also ask for privacy during his recovery.

The Rt. Rev. Bishop Stacy Sauls, chief operating officer and the presiding bishop’s chief of staff, said another update should follow on Friday.
