The Anglican Communion Office seeks a new director of communications who will find and publish stories of Christians in action, promote communication between member churches, and provide a communications service for the Instruments of Communion.

The Anglican Communion is an international family of 44 self-governing churches, with 85 million members in 165 countries. The director of communications, a key player in the Communion, will report directly to the secretary general of the Anglican Communion and manage a small team.

In addition to creating a communications strategy, the new director will form “a global communicators’ network” and be involved in the “daily gathering and disseminating [of] good news, without ignoring the divisions in the Communion” to provide a daily worldwide news service and a proactive service for the media.

“Directing communications for the Anglican Communion is an exciting task,” said the Most Rev. Josiah Idowu-Fearon, secretary general of the Anglican Communion. “Anglicans have lots to share with each other and with the world at large; that’s an essential part of our calling as Christians.

“We are looking for someone who will be both passionate and professional in taking on this key post.”

The director of communications will be based at the Anglican Communion’s secretariat office in West London. The post is open to both lay and ordained applicants.

Applications are due by noon Jan. 15, and interviews are expected in London on Feb. 4.
