Born in San Francisco, I came of age in Georgia. Now I have lived in Minneapolis longer than anywhere else. My family belonged to Lutheran Church in America congregations, and my wife and I were around for the formation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. When we arrived in Colorado Springs in the mid to late 1990s, we joined an Episcopal church. Living in the South, with a Baptist church on every corner, I was a Lutheran. Now living in Minnesota, with a Lutheran church on every corner, I’m an Episcopalian!

I tried being an engineer (Georgia Tech, chemical engineering, 1984). Then I tried teaching high school (Teacher Education Certificate, math, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, 1988). And back to engineering (University of Minnesota, M.S., civil engineering, 1996). What little official theological education I have comes from taking classes at Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry.

For the last 15 years, I have worked for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate Student and Faculty Ministry. I did campus work at Minnesota, and now serve as area director for Minnesota and the Dakotas.

I also serve as deputy warden (we have a three-warden system) at Messiah Episcopal Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

If I am not reading (the cat curled up nearby), playing volleyball, playing in a flight simulator, watching science fiction, or chasing my two daughters, I am probably surfing the web.
