The Rev. Emily Hylden serves as Canon for Young Adult Ministries at Trinity Cathedral in Columbia, South Carolina; before which she served as curate at the Church of St. Michael and St. George in St. Louis, Missouri. In South Carolina, Emily is now building a Young Adult program at the Cathedral, as well as helping to establish the Canterbury program at the University of South Carolina in coordination with the diocese of Upper South Carolina.
She was confirmed in the Episcopal Church in 2009 after she fell in love with the Daily Office and the reverence she witnessed in Anglican worship. Soon after, she matriculated at Duke Divinity School and answered a call to ordination. Since childhood, she’s felt most at home cooking, baking, and hosting parties–one might say that’s still the crux of her work as a priest.
Emily loves to hike in the mountains and enjoy the seashore with her husband, Jordan, also an Episcopal priest, and their German Shepherd, Benedict. She blogs on spirituality and food at hope of things not seen.
