In a quiet tone, Archbishop Francisco de Assis da Silva of Brazil addresses the horror of human trafficking.

People are facing a diminishing ability to be self-sustaining and to survive amid unjust systems, the archbishop said.

“We are humans,” he said. “We are not things. We are not only numbers. We are human beings, made under the image of God, and we need to be loved, and we need to be raised in a situation where lives matter.”
