The Rt. Rev. C. Andrew Doyle, Bishop of Texas, praises President Obama’s executive order on immigration:

I am pleased with the President’s plan, which assures many families will remain intact and removes a constant level of fear many of us will never experience. I do believe, however, that there is much work left to do to reach an ethical and compassionate immigration policy. This will take all of our elected representatives working together to accomplish.

Therefore Congress and the President must make comprehensive reform their priority instead of the posturing that has led to gridlock time and time again. We need our government officials to bring forward moral dimensions and public policy in a cooperative and collaborative manner, which is healthy for both US citizens and for those who wish to come and work in this country.
